maidenjedi: gamora (gamora)
[personal profile] maidenjedi
For a long time now, Not Prime Time has been my favorite fanfiction exchange - even more so than Yuletide, I feel like this is a chance to get to write and read under-served fandoms. Maybe that's true and maybe not, but sure feels like it to me :-)

Thank you for signing up - just knowing we matched tells me you'll do something I love! I hope this is a low-pressure experience for you and you have fun!

Some things about my likes/DNWs and some prompts you can use or ignore at will below!

Generally speaking: I prefer angst over fluff, I like happy endings that come after struggle or discord as much as I love angsty cliffhangers that keep the work grounded in the fandom's reality. I love character studies and backstories. I love minor characters in fic, the chance to flesh out what we don't see on the page or screen. Not into pregnancy AU, high school or university AU, or modern AU. BUT I love canon-divergence or AUs within the given universe (a different meet-cute, or a different ending, for example). While I love angst, I don't love trauma, especially of the sexual variety. Not really into a lot of kink or graphic sex. Love friendship, team-building, friends-to-lovers, unrequited pining, requited pining that's more complicated than those involved want. Absolutely DNW non-canonical character death, rape/dub-con, sexual violence of any kind, body horror, A/B/O, or underage sex.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)
Jyn Erso & Lyra Erso; Jyn Erso & Saw Gerrera (Rogue); Cassian Andor & Jyn Erso & Chirrut Îmwe & Baze Malbus & Bodhi Rook

I would so much like to read about Jyn and her mother. Perhaps Lyra survives and she and Jyn are on the run together; perhaps Lyra is the scientist, not Galen, and Jyn grows up in an Imperial facility while her mother is secretly working to undermine them. Maybe Lyra survives but she and Jyn are separated. Lyra as a Rebel would be fascinating, especially set up opposed to Galen, who is such a public figure in the Empire.

Another angle for Jyn - growing up with Saw Gerrera as her mentor, or more of a substitute-father figure. Jyn as Saw's apprentice as his version of rebellion becomes more developed and solidifies - Jyn as his natural successor.

For the Rogue One team, just any team-building story would be excellent. EverybodyLives!AU preferred. How does the group grow as the rebellion continues? How do they handle being heroes? What is their next great adventure? Let them interact with other known Rebellion legends (or even Legends) - Hera Syndulla, Evaan Verlaine, Biggs Darklighter, Wedge Antilles, Wes Janson, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia. Bodhi as a member of Rogue Squadron later on, Jyn on smuggling runs with Han Solo, Chirrut and Luke talking about the Force.

Descendants (Disney Movies)
Harry Hook/Mal; Evie & Mal (Disney); Gil & Harry Hook & Uma; Harry Hook/Uma

So, one of the things I read about Dove Cameron and Thomas Doherty is that they had a private backstory for Harry and Mal in Descendants 2. I would love to see that play out in a story. Either backstory - their break-up triggered by Mal's invitation to Auradon - or something in the future - Mal doesn't go to Auradon, and she and Harry "run" the isle as adults in a dysfunctional but hot relationship. Or, a missing scene, in which Harry comes to Mal while she's on the isle in the second film, and they have an angsty reunion. Really anything Harry/Mal would be great.

For Evie and Mal, why not how they became friends in the beginning? Or moments from their friendship later. Typical teen BFFs, or later, adult BFFs dealing with day-to-day angst or a major challenge from outside forces (another villain event of some kind - Evie and Mal team up to defeat Mother Gothel's daughter, or something like that).

Gil & Harry Hook & Uma - Gil is a pretty typical bad-guy sidekick. How did he end up hanging with Uma? Is he Harry's friend or Uma's? How do the three of them handle it when they aren't chosen to go Auradon? Or, maybe they ARE chosen for Auradon - what does that look like when they arrive? Do their parents make the same demands Maleficent made on Mal? Anything from their childhoods, bonding, etc.

Harry Hook/Uma - initially drawn to each other, but Uma resenting that she's got Mal's leftovers. Harry pining for Mal but using Uma. Or it's more innocent - Uma and Harry are naturally drawn to each other, feeling left out and overlooked by their own parents but also the rest of the Villain Kids. Adult Harry and Uma wreaking havoc against Mal and Ben, or just generally.

Angel: the Series
Angel/Kate Lockley; Angel & Kate Lockley; Kate Lockley & None; Allen Francis Doyle & Lorne | Krevlornswath; Angel & Cordelia Chase

I think it's pretty obvious I'm all about Kate :-) The show lost something when it lost her, and I understand she plays a role in the comics. Feel free to ignore the comics canon, though if you're familiar with it, great! When it comes to Angel, I mostly believe his curse is in no danger from happiness that is probably tainted - so sex with anyone other than Buffy is not likely to trigger the loss of his soul. YMMV.

I definitely ship Angel/Kate, acknowledging this is going to be a deeply angsty relationship. Anything about the two of them works for me, including just Angel and Kate working together, Kate learning more about the demon threat and coming to work for Angel directly, friendship, keeping in touch.

For Kate on her own, I would love to read about her life after the LAPD. Does she seek out more knowledge about preternatural and supernatural occurrences? Does she go to Cleveland and discover the Hellmouth? Maybe her firing at the LAPD was more orchestrated by Wolfram & Hart, and she's able to work somewhere else. I think of her as being a Fox Mulder type wherever she ends up.

Another wacky pairing idea I had was Doyle and Lorne. Perhaps Doyle meets Lorne soon after he's seen his first vision. Any interaction between them would be cool.

As for Angel and Cordy - please, please, please save Cordy from her fate as a "higher being" and keep her earthbound. Friendship is awesome, even with the undercurrent of sexual tension between them. Early Angel and Cordelia would be great, too. Bonding, especially after Doyle's death. The central role their friendship ends up playing in both their lives. Actually talking about their growing feelings for one another, a conscious decision to act or not to act, the ramifications of it. Fighting side-by-side, hurt/comfort. I love the theme of Cordelia being his link to humanity AND TPTB.

Guardians of the Galaxy (Movies)
Gamora/Peter Quill; Gamora & Nebula (Marvel); Meredith Quill & Yondu Udonta

I will have seen Infinity War by the time NPT stories are revealed, so feel free to include references to events in the film.

Definitely ship Gamora and Peter Quill. Would love slice-of-life for them. Hurt/comfort, admitting feelings, small stories about their lives.

Growing up for Gamora and Nebula - maybe a moment when they did get along, when they did work together, and what it means to each of them separately. Bonding later on, after GOTG2; Nebula doesn't leave right away, spends time healing and she and Gamora find time to talk.

Would really, really love to see something where Meredith meets Yondu. Maybe the afterlife, they talk about Peter. Even better, Meredith surviving and being taken by Yondu when he comes for Peter. Yondu and Meredith as Peter's actual parent figures at the same time, or a story from Peter's POV highlighting parallels between Yondu and Meredith.
