dear yoda letter
Mar. 9th, 2018 09:35 pmGeneral likes: Canon Divergence AUs (especially Everybody Lives), moody character pieces, romance flavored with angst (a consciousness of the actual situation everyone's in - a time of war, etc).
General dislikes/DNWs: PWP, non-con, dom/sub, heavy kink, pregnancy, fluff with no substance. Non-canonical character death. Gore.
Cassian Andor/Hera Syndulla or Cassian Andor/Jyn Erso
Cassian/Jyn in an EverybodyLives! scenario, or Cassian/Hera pre-Rogue One.
Cassian/Jyn is probably my favorite doomed 'ship, but I'd also like to see them not-so-doomed. Feel free to handwave the *how* of their survival and skip right to the making out and fighting more Empire baddies. I'm cool with the rest of the Rogue One gang along for the ride, just not as the center of attention (though, this story through, say, Chirrut's POV could be interesting), as well as any OT or Rebels characters for color, atmosphere, etc. It would be gratifying to see both Cassian and Jyn given leave to stay in the thick of the fight, and not put on a shelf - so let them show up at key battles, maybe let Jyn talk tactics with Leia or Cassian bunk with Luke on their first mission after Yavin 4, that kind of thing. Maybe neither of them wear the hero thing very well; maybe they made it out, but their friends did not. AU is also okay, in which they aren't successful, or one or the other isn't on the mission.
Cassian/Hera intrigues me, set at any time in the canon, including in a CassianLives! scenario post-Rogue One. Most interested in a scenario where Cassian helps recruit Hera. This doesn't have to be super-shippy in nature; I'm thinking it's more unrequited-crush territory, but a romance that ends well (or will end well - no need to do more than an interlude!) works, too.
Anakin Skywalker & Ben Solo | Kylo Ren
Force Ghost!Anakin interacting with Ben Solo, before or after he becomes Kylo Ren. Mentoring, screwed up Force training, or even Anakin watching from a distance, powerless to stop Kylo Ren's rise. Some consciousness on Anakin's part that his grandson is too fascinated by Darth Vader, and an attempt to curb that fascination. Or a situation in which a confused Ben Solo looks to Anakin for guidance and it goes horribly awry. Definitely would prefer that Leia and Han have no idea Ben speaks with Anakin or has contact with him - but it would be interesting for Luke to know or to even have introduced the idea.
Leia Organa & Rey and/or Leia Organa & The Force
I'd most like a story that deals with how Leia agreed to Rey being the one to go to Luke. Is it Leia's idea or Rey's? Does the Force prompt Leia? Does she tell Rey anything she knows about the Force before Rey goes to Luke (feel free to bend canon here)? Does it ever occur to Rey to go to Leia for help with the Force - maybe it isn't Kylo Ren she connects with, but Leia?
Alternately, Leia coming to terms with using the Force after Ben becomes Kylo Ren would be interesting to me. So would Leia, at any point in her journey, struggling with the Dark Side (especially after the Death Star destruction of Alderaan - perhaps an AU where she, like Rey later on, taps into her Force sensitivity to escape on her own, or an AU where her anger and fear give her away to Vader or even Obi-Wan).
Padmé Amidala/Obi-Wan Kenobi or Padmé Amidala & Obi-Wan Kenobi
I 'ship Padmé with Obi-Wan, I can't help it! So you can feed my crazy here, lol.
What makes them work for me is, first and foremost, the fact that they are closer in age; I feel like Obi-Wan would be attractive to Padmé around the time of TPM and AotC, and she would probably draw his eye by the time of RotS. I also feel like, if they have an established relationship at all, it doesn't take full root until later on, perhaps as the Republic begins to crumble and the separation between the politicians and the Jedi Order becomes a lot less implacable.
I'm okay with simple interaction, a friendship that allows Padmé to be Obi-Wan's eventual ally in the Senate (or Obi-Wan her ally among the Jedi), or anything that suggests or implicitly shows a romance between Obi-Wan and Padmé. I'd prefer that this isn't Padmé and Obi-Wan running around behind Anakin's back, in a sense of cheating, but something that happens instead of canon or fits into canon (maybe it happens before she and Anakin really get together, or if she survives the prequels, after).
