Not Prime Time Letter 2015
Apr. 30th, 2015 12:05 amHowdy NPT writer! Hopefully, we got matched on a fandom you're as excited about as I was when I chose them. I gave a couple of ideas in my sign-up, but thought I'd flesh it out a bit here.
Generally, I'm a fan of angst, post-apocalypse, buddy road trips, awesome women being awesome, pre-series spec and AUs (the kind that just deviates within the universe - I don't like alt time periods, high school, or other such AUs).
More specifically -
The X-Files is the fandom that got me into fanfiction, so I was ecstatic as heck that it got included in Not Prime Time this year. Especially given the recent publicity! Anyway, my all-time favorite XF episodes are (in varying order depending on the alignment of the planets): The End, Pusher, Beyond the Sea, Mind's Eye, Never Again, and Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose. Those are just off the top of my head. Basically, I like Scully being awesome but vulnerable, I like Mulder getting put in his place a little, I like their partnership to hint at something romantic but not be derailed or dominated by it, and I like the other women. Diana Fowley is one of my favorite characters. Generally, I like stories that take place prior to season seven. Conspiracy arc is a favorite, especially if you take one of the cliffhangers and mess with the outcome (Anasazi, Tunguska, Gethsemane). I ship Mulder/Scully but also CSM/Teena, and Mulder/Diana. Getting a new story in this fandom would be so awesome, I really just can't wait to see what you come up with. :-)
Game of Thrones has now deviated from the books, and I'm happy with that fact generally, but....I think some things could go differently and be even more interesting :-) So I asked for Brienne and Sansa, and what I'm thinking is, what if Sansa agrees to take Brienne along to Winterfell as her guard? What if Brienne shows up at Winterfell at an opportune moment and saves Sansa, and ends up her guard then? What if Reek/Theon does the saving, but Brienne and Podrick arrive just in time to help them both escape, and they all head in -whatever direction-? Brienne is the one to get Sansa out of King's Landing, Brienne gets to the Eyrie earlier, Sansa escapes and Brienne and Pod find her, whatever - just get Brienne into Sansa's sphere and go from there. Important to note, I don't ship them, I just really don't want Sansa in Ramsay Bolton's airspace for very long. :-/ Plus I would like to see Brienne get to almost, kind of fulfill her oath. Anyway, make of it what you will!
Firefly is a perennial favorite of mine for these midyear challenges, but I can't recall the last time I read anything new in the fandom. I still ship Mal/Inara - on rewatch I'm always hoping for more of the two of them together. Not schmoopy, you understand, just together and doing the Serenity crew thing. I'm especially interested in them post-Serenity, or missing scenes or AU scenes from the series. Also, I am really interested in Shepherd Book's background. Is he a spy? Is he, like, THE spy? Is he the Firefly Nick Fury? I'd like to get your take on what brought him to Serenity and what his intentions are while on board. Could be a fun thing to write about and read about :-).
So, thank you, dear NPT author, and I can't wait to read what you write!
