Well, here it is.  The rewritten story.  A lot shorter than I initially anticipated, but long by my usual standards.  

This took a lot of Tori Amos (hence the title) and general folk music to get through.  And wine.  I had a harder time doing this than I initially anticipated, for all sorts of reasons.
