austen exchange

Thrilled to have an Austen-specific exchange to solve some of the dog-days-of-summer malaise!
General info:
Generally speaking: I prefer angst over fluff, I like happy endings that come after struggle or discord as much as I love angsty cliffhangers that keep the work grounded in the fandom's reality. I love character studies and backstories. I love minor characters in fic, the chance to flesh out what we don't see on the page or screen. Not into pregnancy AU, high school or university AU, or modern AU. BUT I love canon-divergence or AUs within the given universe (a different meet-cute, or a different ending, for example). While I love angst, I don't love trauma, especially of the sexual variety. Not really into a lot of kink or graphic sex. Love friendship, team-building, friends-to-lovers, unrequited pining, requited pining that's more complicated than those involved want. Absolutely DNW non-canonical character death, rape/dub-con, sexual violence of any kind, body horror, A/B/O, or underage sex.
There may be specific exceptions based on fandom or pairing.
Crossover Fandom
Elizabeth Elliot (P - JA)/Colonel Fitzwilliam (P&P - JA)
Colonel Fitzwilliam finds himself in Bath, and meets Elizabeth Elliott in the wake of her disappointment re: her father's heir and Penelope Clay. I imagine this being some Pride & Prejudice in reverse. Fitzwilliam is slighted by Elizabeth, their paths keep crossing, eventually they fall in love but each has to confront their flaws first.
Or, a dalliance! Mistaken identity? Full awareness of their actions, but agreeing that they're one and done?
Maybe it's not Bath but somewhere else - okay with messing with the Persuasion or P&P timelines if it works for your story and doesn't disrupt canon couples (too badly, lol).
Appreciate any and all periphery characters from either fandom coming into the story, especially Wickham (Fitzwilliam tracks him to Bath in revenge for Georgiana, for example, and finds him working his game on a vulnerable but proud Elizabeth). Endgame Elizabeth and the good Colonel.
Colonel Brandon (S&S - JA)/Anne Elliot (P-JA)
Oh, I have no idea how to bring this one about but it would be lovely! Maybe Anne goes to live amongst distant relatives and meets Brandon that way (before/instead of/after Marianne - take your pick). Maybe Brandon, heartsore and very much ready to be appreciated, ends up in Bath, or visiting friends near Kellynch. You pick, but one thing I definitely would like to see is Anne coming to terms with losing Frederick and Brandon being the one to soften and win her heart.
Tom Bertram (MP - JA)/Henrietta Musgrove (P - JA)
Reformed rake and approaching-spinsterhood sister? However her planned marriage to Charles Hayter falls apart (or is never planned) let it happen. But I'm not necessarily going for endgame here, so it could be there's a dalliance or something else between them at some point. Prefer this to be after the events of Mansfield Park.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016)
I haven't read the book, only seen the movie, so if I'm stepping on canon in requests, my apologies.
Elizabeth Bennet/Fitzwilliam Darcy (P&P&Z)
I love AUs in the P&P-verse where Darcy and Elizabeth find themselves forced to marry, especially after they've been trapped somewhere together. I think this conceit could be really fun in the apocalyptic setting of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. Sexy but not explicit is my preference.
Really, anything that imagines these two fighting zombies (or maybe a new threat!) and also falling in love, I'd be thrilled with.
Elizabeth Bennet & Catherine de Bourgh (P&P&Z)
So in rewatching the movie recently, I thought it might be interesting to see what could happen if Elizabeth trains with Lady Catherine before meeting Darcy. Something about being women in this violent world, Lady Catherine being vulnerable and Elizabeth learning how not to be, etc. No slash or implied slash, please.
Persuasion - Jane Austen
Elizabeth Stevenson Elliot & Lady Russell (Persuasion- Austen)
Friendship stories interest me greatly, and these two women were such good friends that Lady Russell's influence was felt decades later. Did they know one another before their respective marriages, or meet as married women in a rather limited country society? Maybe Elizabeth outlives her husband and Lady Russell is her chief support. No slash, please, but fine with mutual admiration and sisterly physicality.
Sir Walter Elliot/Lady Russell (Persuasion - Austen)
Any iteration where Sir Walter, as dim about anything that isn't about himself as he is in the novel, decides an alliance with Lady Russell is the wisest course in the wake of his wife's death. Or, he's having an affair with her from before his wife's demise, and it does or doesn't continue. Actual love? Could be, especially if you find a way to show him as a softer or wiser man under her influence.
Anne Elliot/Charles Musgrove (Persuasion - Austen)
How did Charles come to propose to Anne, and how/why did she really turn him down? Was it Lady Russell's influence, or was it something else? Alternately, Anne accepts him and it's a happy life, if not the one she dreamt of. Maybe it's unrequited - Charles still pines after Anne and has to learn to live as her brother, and chafes against it.
Anne Elliot/Frederick Wentworth (Persuasion - Austen)
Epistolary stories about them between their meetings are of particular interest. Earlier courtship, how it came to be and how she broke his heart (or, flip the table, he breaks her heart). Or, they never break up originally, and Anne gives up everything for him. What happens? Ultimately I don't want to see them apart, but I could imagine versions of the story where their happy ending still takes time and work.
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
Confession time. Pride and Prejudice variations are my comfort food, and I've read so many different takes on how Elizabeth and Darcy end up together. I truly don't tire of reading about them. So, how would you change their story, but still put them together at the end of it?
Here's where I won't mind non-canon character death - killing Mr. or Mrs. Bennet, or Wickham, all fine (so long as E or D aren't responsible!). Also okay with taking them out of their own time, just not to modern day. Although, setting them in space or a fusion with a space fandom like Star Trek or Star Wars is interesting!
I really like "lost and in a cabin or other space for days and Elizabeth is compromised whether something happens or not." Also, stories where they reach an understanding at a different point in the story, especially before Collins can propose. Angst & vague danger are great. Darcy needing rescue, being the rescuer, both fine. Elizabeth coming into an inheritance is fine, but I'm less okay with her as a governess or servant. Not fond of stories where they meet as children and admire each other from afar without knowing who they are.
I like the story to focus on E & D, and I'm less invested in Bingley ending up with Jane so feel free to ignore or discard that for your story if needed. But perfectly okay with the canon endgame for all characters.
