Dear Author,

That we matched on even one pairing is a pretty good sign, I think. I'm super excited about this exchange and I hope you are, too!

I know I put a lot of ideas in my sign-up, so this won't be very long on top of it. Just generalities and a little more detail where warranted.

Generally speaking: I prefer angst over fluff, I like happy endings that come after struggle or discord, I love character studies and backstories. Plot is awesome, especially character-driven stuff. Since this challenge is specifically pairing-driven, I should tell you - I'm not into pregnancy AU, high school or university AU, or modern AU. BUT I love canon-divergence or AUs within the given universe (a different meet-cute, or a different ending, for example). My pairings aren't canon, so no worries if you're wandering beyond canon constraints. While I love angst, I don't love trauma, especially of the sexual variety. Not really into a lot of kink or graphic sex.

Crossover pairings

Diana (Wonder Woman - 2017)/Steve Rogers (Captain America - Movies) - Oh, superhero angst with a war backdrop. Or, maybe it's modern-day, post-ice, and they have shared pain to drink over.

Peggy Carter (MCU)/Diana (Wonder Woman) (DCEU) - It just seems natural. Diana in the U.S. when SHIELD is being founded?

Steve Trevor (Wonder Woman -2017)/Peggy Carter (Captain America - Movies) - Gotta play with the timelines, but I'd love to see how this could work.

Susan Pevensie (Narnia)/Boromir (The Lord of the Rings) - Boromir in Narnia? Susan enters Middle Earth through another wardrobe? Both end up in a different world altogether post-canon? I would love to see Boromir survive and meet Susan later, but maybe they meet when he's younger, and he carries a torch for her long after. Put Narnia in Middle Earth, let their kingdoms negotiate during a time of war.

Susan Pevensie (Narnia)/Minerva McGonagall (Harry Potter) - Susan Pevensie and Minerva McGonagall at Hogwarts. Susan chosen for Hogwarts post-war, as a late-entry student. Susan and Minerva as adults, unrequited or unacknowledged relationship. Minerva finds Narnia via the Room of Requirement. Susan would be a Slytherin, maybe? Or perhaps she thinks she would be, and she is shocked to be Sorted into Gryffindor, and Minerva offers advice, comfort, initial derision that softens into friendship, etc.

Once Upon a Time

I've shipped August and Emma since season one. It seems so natural to me, and they have great chemistry. I'm guessing you agree, dear author. Anyway, get them together! Before she meets Hook, preferably, or even later. I'm okay with cranking up the angst factor on this one. They have a history, one that isn't wholly pleasant. Beyond that, a total AU where August and Emma stay together as children and their relationship grows from their shared childhood outside the Enchanted Forest. Or, play with the wish verse from this past season, where Emma was always a princess, and put Pinocchio in her path.

I also put down August/Ruby, because I'd be very interested to see how you would write this, especially in early seasons. Maybe he shows up at Granny's and meets Ruby there. He's obviously much younger than Ruby in the Enchanted Forest, so unless you age him up or make it a world-crossing adventure, please keep it in Storybrooke. Other than that, I'd say the sky's the limit.

A Song of Ice and Fire

Okay, I need to say now, if you want to use show canon in addition to book canon, feel free.

Jaime Lannister/Catelyn Stark (ASoIaF) - Jaime and Catelyn matched as teens, pre-empting Jaime's appointment to the Kingsguard. Jaime and Catelyn unrequited as adults, King Robert's visit to Winterfell brings back feelings/memories. Ned dies in the rebellion, Catelyn is matched to Jaime then, lots of resentment on both sides that softens over time.

Brandon Stark/Catelyn Stark (ASOIAF) - Brandon survives and marries Catelyn. What does their marriage look like at the time of the first novel? Did the Rebellion even happen? Was Ned made Hand of the King or Brandon? Is Ned even alive? Brandon goes to King's Landing and learns about Jon Arryn's death first-hand, makes different decisions than Ned and takes the Iron Throne from Joffrey? Catelyn as Queen?

Petyr Baelish/Catelyn Stark (ASOIAF) - Tell the story of the duel between Brandon Stark and Petyr Baelish for Catelyn. From her POV, maybe. Have it end differently (Petyr dies of his wounds? Brandon is wounded? Catelyn's affections change targets? Other thoughts?), hint at or go into greater repercussions. Maybe Petyr and Catelyn elope. I'd like to see under what circumstances Catelyn could love Petyr and how that changes things for them both, good and bad.
